whispers pile softly: websites

Browse descriptions and screenshots of some of my recent pro bono work, along with links to those online. Links will pop up in a new window.

Businesses

K103
http://www.plu.edu/~kccr/

The campus radio station at Pacific Lutheran University. I created the graphics used on the site (other than the logo), applied a uniform layout to all the pages, and commented the HTML for the station staff to edit themselves.

[not presently online]

After spending time with Rosie and Petunia and watching them at work, this color scheme and design seemed to fit them. I expect their site to be launched in mid-001.

SRW Handling
http://www.srwhandling.com/ [not online as of 12/01/2000]

The business of a friend of a friend. I simply worked what was a good basic design into carrying over across all the pages and redesigned their logo. I have no idea what happened to the business; neither do the posts on the performance-racing oriented web forums I found referencing them.

Personal pages

The Black Mirror
[build shown not yet online, [http://www.angelfire.com/va/amethystgreye/]

The personal site of Amethyst Adams. I thumbnailed and captioned her picture album, created graphical page headers and the image on the main page, applied a uniform look to all the pages, and commented the HTML so she could edit it herself.

Cod's Spot
http://www.geocities.com/codshot/

Brian Davis wanted his site to load faster and feel more like The Matrix. I put together a coherent layout and a stylesheet; content development and photos are underway.

Benjamin Leff has a lovely collection of swords. I tweaked the layout of the large single page he had in spring 1998 into four shorter pages, adding a combination page header/image map. I also shot and scanned a few new photos of his sword collection. He never got around to uploading it.

Media Geek

Matt Keeley is not really a screenwriter as far as I know, but he's cool. He has wonderful writing talent but hasn't as much in banging HTML together. That's where I hang around and prod him into inspiration, or at least make some neat header graphics and play with Dreamweaver.

Odd Harmonic
http://www.oddharmonic.org/

My immediate family's site. It required a merging of content from the two separate sites that much of the content is from. All of the artwork on it is my own.

screenshot of Walker's Salle

Walker's Salle
http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Dungeon/3496/

A "gift" for an old friend... his previous build lacked cohesion both in layout AND font use. After some discussion over sticking to the one-font, one-color scheme paradigm, we came out with something we both liked.

Miscellaneous

{FoG}
[not presently online]

An independent tribe in the game Starsiege Tribes. I designed their logo, set up a few pages, and maintained it until it ended out of lack of interest.

screenshot of Castle of Eternal Night

Castle of Eternal Night
http://castle.geek.net/

The Castle was the first site I ever coded entirely by hand and is also the longest-maintained. The current build is easily navigable with or without frames. With the exception of link buttons and logos for other sites, all images and content was created by the denizens, very talented people I am lucky to have as friends.

The Civil Rage
http://www.geocities.com/the_civil_rage/

Conceptualized as a weekly 'zine, The Civil Rage is still awaiting content to be provided by its editor, Ross Aldridge. I created new graphics, optimized existing photos, and applied a uniform look to the site.

screenshot of Shmiley's Columbine Memorial

Shmiley's Columbine Memorial
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Station/5425/start.htm

A frames-based memorial site (easily navigable without frames). I didn't add any content, simply cleaned up the design and let the owner use my columbine flower image (see top of left-hand frame on the site).

screenshot of TODCRA

The Official Dead Cat Revolutionary Army (TODCRA)
http://www.dangeruniversity.net/todcra/

TODCRA is revolting. But mostly it's just darn cool. Much like J.R. "Bob" Dobbs, Hunter S. Thompson, Andy Kaufman, Philip K. Dick, and other brilliant minds, it simply must be seen to be believed. If you were raised by paranoid schizophrenic anal retentives lacking any sense of humor, you won't get it. Yeah.
